"Humans are bound
by karma (actions)except those done as yajna (offering). Therefore, O Arjuna,
do your duty efficiently as a service or Seva, not seeking to control
results of action." Baghavad-Gita III.9
We are given the sun and
breath everyday, nothing expected in return. Song is our gift, an
offering in gratitude.
Yajna means sacrifice, selfless service, unselfish work, Seva, meritorious
deeds, giving away something to others. Sometimes this verse is
translated as Let your work then be worshipful, an offering,
full of devotion. We will explore many verses from the Gita;
the nature of action, thought and emotion, karma yoga, bhakti yoga,
values and intention.

Understand & Experience Action and Devotion, Karma and
Bhakti in the context of teachings from the Baghavad- Gita
and the Upanishads. Sing explorations of sound, NADA YOGA, based
on sacred seed (BIJA) syllables and the north Indian Classical
Raga traditions.
Karl has been exploring tone and breath since his first yoga classes more than 20 years ago. Karl studies with North Indian Classical master Pandit Mukesh
Desai, a disciple of Pandit Jasraj. Karl began working with
Pandit Desai in 1996. He also studies sanskrit, VEDANTA, VEDIC
CHANTING, DEVOTION and GRACE with Swami Dayananda Saraswati.
We will sing some of Swamiji's bhajans. Karl practiced native
american ceremonial song and chant for many years, studied jazz vocals in SF, and continues
to study East Indian sacred and healing chants and tone with Pandit Mukesh Desai, Silvia
Nakkach and others in San Francisco Bay Area.
